This was a short but amazing book. In the period of about 10 minutes it has the power to make you stop and re-evaluate your entire life, what you hold important, what your priorities are, what you have done and haven't done, what you would like to do, and what the dash is all about. This book reminded me so much about the movie "Peaceful Warrior". So much of our time is spent worrying about the future or the past that we forget that we are not living for some ultimate end goal, but rather what This was a short but amazing book.
So much of our time is spent worrying about the future or the past that we forget that we are not living for some ultimate end goal, but rather what matters is how we live the journey of life, clear down to each moment we are in. I would highly recommend this book for literally anyone old enough to read. For high school students, for college students, for people that are entrenched in their lives, for people who are retired, for people who have illnesses, for people that have just been blessed with a new child, for people that are just starting out their journey in life, and for people who are finishing their journey.
There isn't a person on earth who wouldn't benefit from reading this book. Jul 16, Tim rated it did not like it. If you are philosophical or reflective at all this offers you very little. Even at that maybe I would have rated it higher if I had not found out about the author's tendency to be a copyright troll. When a middle school class wants to use your poem to read in class and discuss, you should just let them. In fact, a "wise" author would be encouraging such a thing. Reading this "more stories edition" of this inspirational poem was affirmation to what many had already stated - that my son lived his life to the fullest, impacting many; made his dash count; desire to be more like him.
I'm right in there with them and all of those who have been moved by this short, but meaningful composition. Oct 11, Kristy rated it really liked it Shelves: nonfiction , poetry. I just wish all of us didn't need to wait for such catastrophic events to remind us to lie our Dash well!! Great little book. The poem is legendary, the rest of the book has good thought provoking stories. To see clarity of what's really important.
